How to Remain Relevant When a Building Life Cycle Shrinks
Going Places With Renee Kaiser, Leasing Associate
Tell us about your career path.
I started out as a receptionist at my mom’s architecture firm and became interested in the marketing side of things. I was a marketing major at Texas State and, when I went for a concentration in sales, the sales side really drew me in. For a while I thought that’s the route I’d take, but an internship showed me that it wasn’t really my cup of tea. Later on, I took a marketing role with a construction engineering firm, where I did a lot of RFQs, proposals, events — and anything else in the marketing realm, really. I found myself missing that grind or social aspect of sales. Around then was when I started looking into commercial real estate — and Belvoir.Tell us about your experience with Belvoir.
I found out about Belvoir when I found a listing for an open position on LinkedIn, and I’d actually been considering the industry for a while. It was perfect timing. I joined the team in early February, and it’s been a great experience. The team has been very welcoming, and I’ve been learning the ropes and gaining some traction in my new role. What is your role with the team?
The buildings Belvoir owns are my babies. I’m showing people spaces, reaching out to prospective clients and doing some of the marketing work that relates to those properties. It’s funny how things work out. My position now provides a great opportunity to put my past marketing and sales experience to use at once. I’m really enjoying it.

Describe your work ethic.
I grew up with a single mom, so I’ve always kind of felt like I have to be able to dig in and make it myself. I’m very driven, and I like to be organized. Everything is planned out — as much as it can be — and on a calendar.

What’s something you’ve learned through your time with the company?
I haven’t been here very long, but the team has given me some great insight. I’ve learned that, if you’re going to be in this industry, you can’t expect everyone else to get you where you need to be. You have to do it yourself. You have to take the action. You’ll have help from others along the way if needed, but you have to reach out.

What do you do in your spare time?
I really enjoy traveling. That’s been a little hampered this past year, but I have managed to get some U.S. trips in. I just love to see new places, experience new cultures and eat foods from different countries. I also enjoy cooking, and being home so much more during COVID has given me a new love of gardening. I am into cork art — making wreaths and things like that. My husband (who’s a big Packers fan) and I also have a dog named Lambeau (Field) and a cat named Aaron Rodgers.
